Contract Farming for Gir Cow Milk

Contract Farming for Gir Cow Milk

Introduction

This project report proposes a contract farming model for the production of Gir cow milk. The aim of this model is to empower farmers to rear Gir cows and produce milk, thereby enhancing their economic strength.

Plan:

Under this plan, we will provide farmers with 10 Gir cows, the cost of which will be covered through bank loans, and we will also take care of their EMI payments. We will provide fodder, veterinary care, and other necessary facilities for the cows. We will purchase milk, dung, and urine from the farmers at good prices.

Benefits

For Farmers:

  • Regular Income: One cow produces an average of 10 liters of milk per day. With 10 cows, this will amount to 100 liters per day or 3,000 liters of milk per month. At a rate of ₹40 per liter, farmers will earn ₹120,000 per month and ₹1,440,000 per year.
  • Additional Income: Farmers will also earn extra income from the sale of dung and urine.
  • Employment Generation: This plan will create employment opportunities for farmers’ families.
  • Training for Cow Care: We will provide training to farmers for the proper care and management of cows.

For Us:

  • Supply of Quality Milk: We will receive a regular supply of fresh and high-quality Gir cow milk.
  • Use of Dung and Urine: We will utilize dung and urine to produce organic fertilizers and other products.
  • Contribution to Rural Development: This plan will contribute to the development and prosperity of rural areas and farmers.

Timeline:

This plan will be implemented for a period of 5 years. After 5 years, we will send the elderly cows to our cowshed and provide new cows to the farmers.
